Final Audience Review.
Assembly.
Today in assembly we did the last audience review to show of the hard work we put into the construction of our films. Everyone watched our preliminary task and final film giving people pieces of paper to rite positive comments only. It was very funny reading the comments. One girl wrote just 'SCARY!' which is really funny. Allot of people liked the build up from each shots with the music as it created a tense atmosphere and everyone mentioned the blood and they really liked it! I was watching peoples facial expressions and some peoepl generally seemed scared which was also funny. I tihnk we got really positive and good feedback which i'm happy about.

Final edit
Final edit before moderation
•
In this edit we had to make a final drastic change which would change our project form a two minute film to a two minute opening. We thought that it was a two minute film then after minutes of analysing we needed something extra to carry on. We found some footage from previous shootings when Patricia is walking down an ally then we suddenly see the killer appear. We had problems at first with the continuity of some of the footage of the ally as the camera angles changed halfway through. However after scanning our footage we found one that lasted 6 seconds long. We added slow motion effect and changed the brightness and contrast of this clip. To end the opening the music dips down towards the end. If my film were to carry on you would see the killer keep following her and she would be running this is when the music would intensify.

Final Audience review.
To see what people thought of my final film and any criticisms I showed my film to my form in the morning.
Everyone really liked it and really wished they took media which made me feel positive about my film. No-one really had any criticisms and thought the construction, effects and music all fit in well together. If I could make any changes to my film it would be the music and maybe the ending. As we had no time left to film more or change the music drastically we left it lone. However no-one picked up on this. It's just because I'm a media student and from my point of view these could of been changed to make the film more of an opening.

Telephone call
Telephone call.
A film I previously watched started of with the end of the movie. As the film goes on everything starts to fit. We decided to add a video call which we made on the macs. Danielle was the desperate mother who just found her daughter laying in a bath of blood where I was the emergency services. She is saying help, help someone just help, then i say please calm down etc. We added this to the film just after Switch productions appears and this is at the time when the music begins. We decided that it would sound good if there was a ruffling sound and then the call cuts of with 3 beeps we found on garage band.
We found it really difficult to add the sounds to Imovie as you had to get the timing right and we tried about 12 times; eventually it worked. In between the phone call the volume of the call goes up and down just to show she's in panic and ruffling. This starts on a black screen then follows to the title then onto the footage. The call stops after 22 seconds then the film carries on.

Production name
Production name.
In this Edit we had to come up with a name for the production. We were trying to think of so many names, but none seemed to fit the film. From the research in my blogs many films seem to fit the production name for example dream works films are more for children films rates U. We eventually came up with switch productions. There is no justification for this name it just seemed to click, We decided to have this as the first clip the audience would see. Using the font 'you murderer' downloaded from http://www.1001freefonts.com/ this seemed the perfect fit.
We decided you couldn't just have Switch production so we used the phrase 'A film by'. We used carbon type font which is used for the credits as it fits in nicely. We want the name of the production to stand out so we made that large and 'A film by' smaller. This approximately lasts on screen for 4 seconds then wipes of. We chose this transition text as it fast and snappy on a black screen.

Music Changes
Tweeking
Whilst listening to our previous attempt in the film of music. We decided it needed something extra. We found a beat on garage band that plays for 20 seconds form the beginning of the film. Then stop and the sound blood deep comes in then stop and ends with the piano. Now it sounds more upbeat.Secondly whilst miss watched our film she picked up on a few bits like the door sound needed to be lowered as it fuzzy. So we seen to this.

distributation of my product
who would distribute 'Creeper?'
‘Creeper’ could be distributed by the New line cinema which is owned by Warner Brothers. New line cinema has distributed a number of psychological, thriller and horror films. The Butterfly Effect is a psychological thriller similar to ours except ‘Creeper’ is a horror/ thriller. The film series Nightmare on Elm Street to epic fantasy trilogy The Lord of the Rings. The films Se7en and Drag Me To Hell which inspired our ideas for creeper are also distributed by New Line cinema.
We’ve decided that our film would be low budget so rather than having a popular distributer like New Line cinemas or a major distributor like Fox we would distribute our film under an independent distributor such as Cineova in London. Cineova company is non-profit organization. Pandora is also a distributor that could distribute our film as they have experience with distributing similar low budget thriller films. Our film could b shown locally in a smaller cinema such as a Phoenix cinema or at a festival. Alternatively I could self distribute on the internet.

Futher changes to the title
Further title changes
When examining our title in the previous edit we noticed it didn't stand out as much as we'd like it to. We decided to add a black screen for the writing to appear on first then the title would move over the footage or the moon and back onto the black screen. This way the title would stand out and start of the footage.

Textual information
Text
we wanted to add some text which would make the film seem more realistic and make it seem it was based on a real event. In Paranormal activity and The Blair Witch Project they have texts which say it was based on a real event and the killer has not yet been found. When I watched these films I really was convinced that they were real.Firstly we added the first text on a black screen right at the beginning of the film: 'This film is a recreation of case 32 that took place in 2002.' By saying case 32 it makes it seem more realistic and that this actually happened. Then after the title appears a second black screen comes on saying: this case still remains open. We just thought this would give our film more scary opening

Credits change
Changing Credits.
Since examining our last efforts of editing and our last version 5 of the film we picked up on more things. Last lesson we also watched the beginnings and titles of films in class including Babel, The Bourne identity, Derailed, The life of David Gale and In Bruges. We noticed that the credits in films don't always start in the same position For example in Babel the credits appear on a black screen about a minute into the film likewise with In Bruges. However in Derailed the credits appear during the film over the footage. In my opinion I think more action packed movies look better with black screens and less action packed look better over the footage.
We were thinking ass our film is a horror genre and action packed the credits would look better on a black screen. Watching our movie a few times of our previous draft we decided to keep our credit simple. As we want them on a black screen we decided they shouldn't move. We started of with my name and used the writing Carbon type we downloaded from 'www.1001freefonts.com' This is the same writing used for the title. At first we experimented with other fonts on the mac such as Ariel, and gill sans however these didn't look right and looked pretty boring.
The second thing we noticed was that our names had to we associated with a role. Like most films I have seen the name are associated with roles for example: Directed by Joe Bloggs. We did the same for our names. The first name to appear on the black screen in my'n which the music and lighting role is allocated. The second name to appear is Patricia's which the role of editing is allocated to. Lastly the role of filming is allocated to Danielle. We decided we wanted all the credit to appear before he got to the top of the stairs so the audience could now focus on all the action.

If my film were published.
If my film were to be published the story would carry on as the serial killer killing more women. His layer would firstly be found by the police then the killer goes on the run. However whilst on the run he kills more women leaving unveiling clues which are a mystery. It's a similar story to that of Se7en as we were inspired by this film. The ways it's put together is very creative and psychological.
The phone call at the beginning of the film leads to the first killing. Like that of Se7en when the woman found the girl dead in the bath.
The beeping noise at the end of the call represents the death of the mother. The killer come back to get the mother, but this is not found out until the end. Every event would fit in together as a scandalous plot if this were a real film.

Adding the music
Adding the music
From my research into music we liked the Damian rice soft kind of music, however we needed something a little more upbeat. Like I explained in my other post into music we combined different sounds to create a new mix down. We mixed together the soft piano sound with a spooky and beat effect that we found on garage band. Together these sound give a calm and upbeat effect. The piano last throughout the film whilst the beat effect ends 5 seconds before the end. We did this so the piano gives a calming effect to the end of the scene. The music starts as soon as the title appears over the moon at the beginning of the film so it jumps strait in. We didn't need to time the music to fit the film as once it was added the events seemed to fit in place.

The Crazies
Crazies
I was browsing some video trailers and came across 'The Crazies' I've seen this advertised everywhere and looks really scary! I thought the trailer was very good an professional.
I really liked the flashback scenes in the middle of the trailer which is what where trying to accomplish in our film.
The music fits in exceptionally well as whenever a scary scenes comes on the music intensifies. However I really like how the soft music plays at about 2minutes into the film. Although the music isn't tense and dramatic anymore I still feel the urge to be on edge. This is because the graphics are scary and you don't always need tense music to make a film edgy!
I like the effect how sometimes the music is silent then you'd hear a random screech or noise that would make you jump. We could maybe link this into our film when the girl dies associated with dramatic sound effects.

Extended music research for the film
Whilst watching our film again I was thinking where we could add sound effects. In the background music we want it to be calm, but at the same time dramatic. With the Damian Rice soundtrack I researched previously and some of the saw music added onto as effects the whole piece would fit in well with the film. If we could re-create something similar to this it would sound effective.
At the point where the killer passes the chimes I also thought we could as a chime sound in. For example when you here chimes in the wind; this would sound spooky and raise the level of tension. The chime sound could be a diegetic sound very quietly which would give the spooky alone effect which is being disrupted here.
So far our group haven't started creating music properly so these are just ideas.

Justification of the title.
Title - Creeper.
Deciding on a title in our group we thought of many including: lighting, switch, and many more however the one that stood out the most was 'Creeper' At first i thought this sounded a tad cheesy however it fits in perfectly with our film. The killer is always creeping round killing people. We used the font 'mystery' for the title as this gave a spooky effect. We then played around with it changing each letter and adding lines. It took us about an hour to get it right. We made some of the letters bold and some of the letter position up and down. We didn't want the title to look boring as the first few clips set on the audience mind.We positioned the title over the first clip which is the moon. This give a tranquil, but spooky effect to the film. As the moon transfers across the screen the title lasts for 4 second on screen then fades of. We decided to use this transition as it would make the the title more mysterious as it just fades away.

Adding Credits
Adding Credits.
In this edit we added the credits. Each name lasts on screen for four seconds this is so the audience can read the names. My name comes on first at the right hand side bottom corners; flashing on and of 3 times. A final time appears larger and fades of. Each time the names appear the writing changes; the first time my name appears the word Jasmine is crossed out and Siew is left fine. The second appearence of my name the letters are moved up and down this time with no letters crossed out and the third time my name appears the word Siew is crossed out with a double line. Finally the enlarged showing of my name is centred bottom of the screen with some letters crossed out and some up and down.
We decided to cross letter out and jumble the, up as it would make them more exciting and mysterious. Danielle wilson and Patricia Burridge's names also appear exactly the same as mine. The credits all appear over different pieces of footage throughout the film.

Saw music Research for our film
Our group really need to get started with our music. We know the type of music we want which is dark and creepy. Whist
re-seacrching different music I found the music in saw 8. I played the music with the our edited film and i thought it sounded really good! obviously we wouldn't be able to copy right this, but could probably re-create this.
I really find the Saw music creepy, it starts off slow and quiet and then after 8 seconds it adds a slight beat and that beat is repeated every four seconds until 22 seconds into the music when a louder beat is added these beats are very scary cause they are not expected in the calm music, and therefore make the listener jump when they happen. The music almost sounds like a heartbeat. At 1:35 in the music it really slows down after getting louder and louder before this and then gets louder again at 2:15 in the song this contrast between the loud and quite is exactly what I think we should use in my groups film, especially when we are showing the different scenes so the quite scenes when it is just showing the victim before she is unaware that the killer is in the house and then the louder part when it focuses on the killer.

Making the credits.
Producing credits
Today Trisha and I spent all lesson today doing credits and we still haven't finished. We thought it would look effective to use the 'carbon type' font as this is the one we originally decided on. Each time we tried making the credits it wasn't ending out how we wanted, however today we have spent the whole lesson on just 4 seconds of credits and I really like how they are looking. Although we will end up changing it more as we always do, we have also used a effect which makes the text blur as it comes off the screen i really like the way this looks.
At first we wanted it to flash, but we had real difficulty trying to accomplish this effect. Whilst fiddling around with the controls we came across some really good effects on the fonts. We jumbled up certain letters in the names and added lines though a few letters. We did this several times each time muddling the letters up in a slightly different way.
We also added another transition whilst the credit disappeared which shot back on the screen and slided away. We still haven't finished these credits yet as they still need to be perfected.
Here is a sample:

Researching fonts for the credits
Trisha and I started to get cracking on with our credits as this will be quite a long process. We want the credit to be effective and look scary and disoriented. From the research I did I knew what type of font I wanted.
We found a website to download different fonts called http://www.1001freefonts.com/
We downloaded the fonts:
- Carbon Type
- SF Gushing Meadow
- You murderer

I really like this font. The first time I saw this font it reminded me of the film Se7en and the font its very creepy looking.

I thought this one was effective because it's very gory looking; however although i liked it; it didn't really stand out as much.
I did like this one as it stands out and looks as if blood is dripping of, however this is a stereotypical font for a horror movie and I wanted ours to be more original.
We searched many others, but didn't see any more that really caught our eye. The one really liked was Carbon Type which is the font we've decided on. It reminds me of the se7en credits and fits really well with our mysterious murder film.
se7en credits:

Opening film credits
As where making our credits now we've decided to intersperse them through out different parts of the film and over different images. Here are some opening credits which have inspired me, I think these all look really effective.
The Dawn of the Dead opening credits are really effective on the black background. The fierce colour of red really sets the opening scene. The block capitals also look very effective; I also really like it how the credits linger on screen for about 5 seconds then the writing drains away like ink. This seems a short space of time but when you watch this tension is building inside you as the first 2 minutes of a film are very important for the audience as they create a review for the whole film. The music is really effective with the credits which makes the whole image very tense. Also the images in between the change make the illusion even more tense.
Se7en credits really have had a lasting impression on me. I love the way the names stay on screen for about 8 seconds and flash and move about. the font of the credits aren't like the stereotypical font with blood dripping of, but this is still a scary effect. These factors make these credits stand out and are really effective and fitting in perfectly with the horror look. I could re-create that effect on i-movie using fade to white effect and splitting the clip several times. I think it's also really good how the fonts change in between each line.
The Horseman I could only find the trailer to this film as it's very recent. I really like the small writing at 1:02. This would be an effective font for our film. Although it's small I like the fact that it looks like the credits have been handwritten which gives a scary edge.
Friday the 13th I also like these credits and the white text stands out from the black background. Our group were thinking about this effect as if will stand out. The font and style is also very effective and fits well with the genre and this is something my group is hoping to do. I love the small flashes on and off the screen. I also like the way the text appears all over the screen and not just in one place as if it was in just one place this could seem quite boring to the viewer. I really like how it appears and goes quickly as this fast past editing has a scary feel to it.
The best credits I've scene so far are that of se7en. They give a really spooky effect so our group will try to create credits like those!

Film edit and changes - 3
Progress.
This is our progress so far. We are changing the credits as we were just messing around trying to find the best font to use. Were also going to be adding more one flashback shot in a forest which needs to be shot soon. We changed also changed the shot of the knife to more of a close-up as this has a more tense and prolonged reaction.

Editing flashbacks
We also made a really good flashback of his layre. This is only a short 5 second clip but took us about 40 minutes to get perfect. We tried using the x-ray effect on top, but it really didn't look right so we added the aged effect and black and white. We split the clip 5 times and added fade to white effect to make it flash.

When showing our teacher the progress we made so far she thought we could use a reaction from when the killer enters. We found one and tried it with a scream and without. We've decided to use the reaciton without the scream as it looks more effective then goes onto a flashback; then we finally see the bloody and gory scene.
Whilst browsing throughout our footage we found a clip with the killer walking into a house. We thought we could defiantly use this to show how the killer got in the house!

Peer review and changes
When showing our film to the class so far they didn't understand how the killer actually enter the house. We need to make this more clear; so we've decided to have the killer coming in from an open window, this will be easy to film and also give us the oppurtunity to do some woodland shots. We'll put these together and make a flashback.
We've been thinking of different flashbacks to do, here are some of our ideas:
- Killers hand holding onto a tree looking at a girl walking through the woods. This will be a close up of the hand, but also looking at the girl.
- A random chair in the middle of the forest with the girl tied up and gagged
- A close up of a shoe in the middle of the forestClose up of a victims eye in a red effectIn the forest we going to put an aged effect with lines vertically to show its a flash back in time.

Also they'll e done when it srats to get dark.
We'll be doing this in the next few weeks when we get the camera.

Film edit and changes - 2
The last week or so our group have spend allot of time editing our film and keeping in mind the audience reviews we've had. we wanted to add more flashbacks as the point of the story is the man is a serial killer addicted to killing people; then whilst the tension builds up we see some of his previous killings.
we showed the class our second draft and many people don't understand how the killer gets in the house. This is because the door we filmed him opening looks like an inside door

We've decided we need to film again a way the killer gets into the house. Maybe through a window left slightly open.
When we had the camera before we really wanted to add a forest scene like that in 'The Blair Witch' film, but we didn't have enough time. Scenes of past murders we can make into a flashback. This has given us the oppurtunity to do this!

Classifying my film.
Our film is based on the films 'Psycho' and 'se7en' We were inspired by the psycho shower scene and the layre in se7en. Psycho by Alfred Hitchcock was rated as a 15 in 1986 with no cuts. The film se7en was rated a 15 in 2008 passing with no cuts made. It Contains strong bloody violence, horror and threat. I obtained this information from the BBFC website.

Using the guide to help me establish a classification I have decided our film should be classified as a 15 for these reasons:
- Like se7en and psycho their is more violence and threat; ours is mostly implied.
- Our film contains the occasional gory moments but rarely emphasised. There is visible use of blood and weapons.
- The violence and horror in our movie is in moderation and would be acceptable for a 15.
- Some, but minimal psychological threat is perceived.
- Nudity is present in moderation. However nudity in our film isn't actually screened just implied.
- No discrimination, sex, or drugs is shown in our film.
- A weapon is shown in our film, but is not glamorised.
Below is the guidelines I followed for a 15 rating.
15 – Suitable only for 15 years and over No one younger than 15 maysee a ‘15’ film in a cinema. No one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work.
Discrimination - The work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour.
Drugs - Drug taking may be shown but the film as a whole must no tpromote or encourage drug misuse. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances (for example, aerosols or solvents) is unlikely to be acceptable.
Horror - Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadisticor sexualised. Imitable behaviour Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide andself-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised. LanguageThere may be frequent use of strong
language - (for example,‘fuck’). The strongest terms (for example, ‘cunt’) may be acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeateduse of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable.
Nudity - Nudity may be allowed in a sexual context but without strong detail. There are no constraints on nudity in anon-sexual or educational context.
Sex - Sexual activity may be portrayed without strong detail. There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour, but the strongest references are unlikely to be acceptable unless justified by context. Works whose primary purpose issexual arousal or stimulation are unlikely to be acceptable.
Theme - No theme is prohibited, provided the treatment is appropriate for 15 year olds.
Violence - Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the inflictionof pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely tobe acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence, but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification.

Obviously our film is not going to be anything like this, but it shows it can work in an intense scene with soft music. I this clip actually made me laugh, wasn't scared at all that the woman was getting harassed and there singing!

Third audience review.
On Friday I was in the library with Danielle, Trisha and myself as we all had free period. We was arranging times for when next to film and that should be in a couple of weeks.
We kept on looking over at our film on YouTube trying to find out any bad points. Although this isn't actually going to be our film what so ever, parts are going to be featured in this.
We asked about ten people all of our age in the library to see their reaction to our film also with the music.
Bearing in mind the criticisms we've encountered in the last showing we wanted to see if people had the same criticism. Before a few people said the music sounded like a romance more than a thriller. Most people we showed this to seemed to really like it and asked many questions to what will happen next, however we were mainly focusing on the music to see their opinion on it. There were mixed responses really, some seemed to love it as it gave an intense build-up, were as likewise to before some weren't scared and found it cheesy. However they said it would be brilliant if we add more layers to the sound wit scary effects like blade and heartbeat sounds which we were thinking of doing anyway!
At least we know now for definite what type of music we want from the reviewing's and the garage band session! We hope to be showing the stages of our film often to get helpful criticisms to improve our film.

Garage band
We got to the CLC about 1:45pm and went strait upstairs to use the macs, firstly our group were on separate macs to investigate different sounds after having a tutorial on how to use garage band properly which was a relief!
Danielle, Trisha and I eventually got together and started trying to create a music base for our film. We found a very similar beat to that of 'Damian Rice' called Emotional piano 03, however playing around with this we started to add more beats on top and found a really good violin sound which fits in well. However I really didn't think our music sounded at all similar to a horror. However miss re-assured us that sometimes it sounds better if the music isn't tense because then you can't anticipate what is going to happen next and to build up and intense atmosphere.
We also found some really good scary sounds we could layer on top of the piano sound. We filtered all other sounds just to dark and intense. This way specific sounds would only come up, we found some very good beats which were thinking of using every time the killer is on screen.
I was also thinking it's going to be very hard for us to fit the sounds in time for every scene.
Whilst listening to the tutorial I learned some very useful tips, I found out that you can change the pitch of the sounds, but also make the sound start of quiet and gradually build up. This gives an intense build up, like that of the movie 'Jaws.' Also you can actually play around with the sound so it can just come through one headphone then come through the other, this gives a sense of realism and shock to the audience.
We have a few more garage band sessions to come, so hopefully we'll be creating the prefect piece to go with our film.

Uploading raw footage
Today our group managed to upload all our film progress after school for the third and fourth day of filming.
Watching back all of our filming, was enjoyable and I think we've made significant progress. However I did notice parts which were not as good as we'd like them to be. For example the ally shots which I loved filming will most probably have to be shot again. This is due to the contrast of the shots. It's to dark as we filmed this at night, I recommend next time we film about 4/5 when it just starts to get dark. Bearing that in mind if the contrast was brighter these shots would be prefect to use.
We were all thinking about this scene and thought we could do it in a forest by Forty Hill. The 'Hans Moleman' video we found on YouTube' inspired this, as the forest would be even more of a creepy place. We'll probably shoot both takes and see how it turns out.
However on the third day of filming when we shot the killer in the layre this turned out exactly what I hoped for! The visuals were gory and creepy which fits in perfectly to the scene.
However there were shots on this day which weren't as good as we hoped. For example when the killer is walking from his van to his door, most of this is to dark to see because we filmed about 8pm. We'll have to re-shoot all of this.
As we don't have the camera with us anymore we'll have to wait a couple of weeks and start editing in the meantime!

Whilst browsing YouTube I found this video of someones editing work called 'Hans The Moleman' and found it fascinating! The way this person has added effects and sounds is really good! This is the idea I had in mind of what our film opening would be like. It kind of is like our film ideas as there are sudden flashes to the newspaper articles and then back to the film and also the fade In's and outs and also how the colour changes to red. This is a great effect as it breaks the up dull colours, we could use something like that in our film as most of it is shot i night mode.
The music used in conjunction to this is fits is perfectly, however not really what we were thinking of going for though since this video is slightly more edgy than ours though there is a beat in this music which we were thinking of doing because its like a heart beat and this could be very effective. I also loved the shakey camera movements, we thought this could be effective in our film since when a camera movement isn't smooth it adds more of an edge to a film. When I shot using the hand held down the ally way this is the same sort effect.
Towards the end of this slip there is a part with silence and then a scream or a fuzzy background noise, it sounds really believable. There are allot of forest clips in this film which gives of a spooky lonely feel.

Alley way scene - extra footage
Here are a few snippets of the footage we took. We've decided were not sure if were going to use most of it. I think were going to scarp the alley way bit were he grabs her. However we might use it in a flashback; but most of the footage is to dark.
In this scene this is the girl walking from her house across the road.
This is an over the shoulder shot of the killer following the girl into the alley way.
This reaction shot of the victim would give more tension.
This is the killer hiding in the bushes waiting for the victim to walk past.
As you can see most of these shots are quite dark and would corrupt the continuity of the film. They was just an idea; however we could maybe
use them later on as flashbacks!

Fourth day of filming.
Today was our 4th film session of the second idea we thought of. We filmed this by Danielle Flood (the killers) house. She had a really good ally way. The ally was narrow with bushes and trees arching the top. I thought this would be a very good scene for a lone girl to be walking home and someone grabs her. I also made sure we story boarded the scenes so we know exactly what will happen next, there is a snippet from our story board at the bottom of this post, I did the story board using the computer as it was easier and quicker this way.
Firstly we started of the girl coming out of her house.
(As the killers house wasn't right by the
ally we had use a random house and Trisha went into the gate and came out to close it, we asked permission of course and the lady was very accepting) With Danielle (killer) waiting close by; the victim crossed the road. This was taken in a wide shot to get a bigger picture of the surroundings. I then panned across the victim crossing the road. This is when Danielle (the killer) comes on screen and appears from no-where to follow the girl leading to the ally way.(This shot took many tries as people kept walking past, and cars kept going past!)
Once half way down the road I had to change camera positions so both actors had to stay in the same place so continuity would be precise. I changed from the tri-pod to handheld to follow the victim and killer down the ally way. This was taken in an over the shoulder shot from the killer, we carried this on till we got to the end of the ally way. I also zoomed in on the killers feet and the victims feet, this would give an edgy effect as the girl realises she' not alone by the sound of fast pacing footsteps behind her.
We decided that it could be scarier if we see the girl actually being grabbed then the camera would cut of instead of just seeing the killer following. However this would be implied in the audience's mind. So we decided to do two takes of the different endings.
This wasn't part of the storyboard, but we thought; may aswel shoot it and see what it turns out like!

We had to shoot the ally way bit again and when she crosses the road.
We decided we didn't want to see the killer until half way down the ally and then he'd appear from behind her. This would create tension for the audience as they would be anticipating what was going to happen next.
firstly for this take I followed the girl from her house which was shot on the tri-pod, then changed to hand held when following her down the ally then gave a queue for when Danielle (killer) to appear and to start following the girl. Just before the killer would appear I changed to the tri-pod again making sure the Trisha stood still so continuity wouldn't be effected. Using the tri-pod for this is a good effect because as the killer appears and starts following her,the two char actors would get further away form the camera and in the distance you see the girl being grabbed. This is effective as the audience see the crime being commited, but are unsure of the outcome.
We took many different shooting of this with the killer waiting in different places, one was a bush, the other was an old fence cramped in a corner and behind a building. This way we can fit the best one to the scene when we edit.
When Danielle (killer) grabbed Trisha (victim) she made a struggling sound, this sound effect makes the scene more realistic and the audience even more tense.
I'm looking forward to uploading and editing now!

Vampire Diaries 2010
Whilst watching ITV2 a really good advert for a new TV series came on. It's called 'Vampire
Diaries.' I'd never heard of this before, but apparently it was out in 2010 and it's a new series.
However the thing that interested me the most was the advert itself. I love the dull kind of negative effect and the music gives a creepy feel. Also there is a white transition in the clip which is exactly what we want for our flashbacks!

Third day of filming
Today was our 3rd film session of the first idea we thought of.
We filmed the killers layre at Danielle's house (the actor) as she had
a really good place to film. Trisha and I were filming as Danielle

couldn't make it. We firstly started of by getting the layre ready which was in a small airing cupboard at the bottom of her house. Using the newspapers I'd produced previously we stuck them all over the walls and splattered some with blood and cobwebs.
This made a creepy effect to the scene, also with the bloody knife in the corner.
Trisha and I were also the Police woman as we had no other actors which were available so we made do. Were not sure how this part turned out so might try and re-shoot this later on in the week.
We then filmed the killer walking from a white van into her house. There was a white van outside her house which gave a creepy effect. I often see in horror movies the killers with vans, obviously to move their evidence. So this was something we could use to our advantage. We had to make sure however we didn't get the number plate.

We got this whole idea about the layre and police from the film 'Se7en' and thought it would be a really interesting scene to film, and also give our film that extra motive. You often see in horror movies a secret basement or hideout which makes a good effect in the movie.
Whenever the killer is in the layre I think a good idea would to add a few scary effects onto our original music which plays throughout the film.
.
.
.
When the killers in the layre this is also the part when we see flashbacks zooming into various newspapers of previous killings.

The flashbacks will have special sound effects as the visuals will
be more intense. After each flash back we thinking of adding either a negative or white effect. This will just make the visuals look more realistic. I'll be doing more research into flashbacks with the movie 'Jonny Depp is Sweeney Todd'
We still have a few more shots to film then that will be it! So hopefully only one more session left. This will be of the second idea we thought if which I posted on a previous blog.
